indie-pop sweethearts the smittens are playing a rare local show this saturday 4/28 at parima in burlington. playing with them is a michigan band i'm unfamiliar with called the icicles. one thing i did learn about the band is that they are part of the microindie collective, an interesting project in grand rapids, michigan, with a goal of bringing more independent pop bands
to the area and promoting local pop music. maybe a little more organization in the burlington community could bring in bigger and better bands? now that we've passed the 'sonic youth test' as ben put it we have to do what we can to get good bands here. thats why i'm so glad there are some local music promoters who are aiming for something a little different, such as burlington sounds & tick tick. support local music this weekend!

the icicles and the smittens rocked parima Sat. dancing, smiles and good times had by all. and the icicles all wore these adorable homemade matching outfits and sold handmade fabric pins. and the smittens last song was...I Hate Vermont - the crowd went wild!
