so with the 20$ pure pop gift certificate I won from being trivia master of the month over at spitting out teeth I purchased 2 cd's: 'moonchild' by john zorn fet. mike patton, trevor dunn, and joey baron; and 'revolution of the mind: live at the apollo vol. III 1971' by the godfather, james brown. thanks again to jay, and god or my dad or whoever it was that instilled so much trivial knowledge in me.

yeah, they're both great...the john zorn one is heavy shreaking loud fun, with no zorn on it...he produced/composed/conducted etc. mike patton is a crazy man...he hit notes i never knew a grown man with balls could hit... the james brown cd is him at his finest...with great, sprawling versions of 'escapeism' and 'hot pants' great finds, both.

The other Crowley-inspired, Zorn record, IAO is also pretty friggn rad.

IAO is AWESOME!

The new Zorn with Ikue, Baron & Patton, Six Litanies for Heliogabalus is, in my opinion, way better than Moonchild. It just came out on Tuesday. and Zorn actually bothers to blow some horn on it.

i almost got that one instead but i was buying dry having never heard any of it so i took a chance...really like moonchild, however..

Shit, they're both good. After a while it's all the same record, anyway.

PS: Here's where my new blog will live. I'm not gonna go live 'til after I leave 7D, so it's a little early to be begging for blogroll adds. But check it anyway:
